Protecting the area from the threat of fire is crucial to the success of the project and 400 fire-fighters have been hired to-date to keep people safe and protect the carbon stored in the ground. The Katingan Mentaya Project also runs a training program which often takes ex-illegal-loggers, providing them an alternative livelihood.
Katingan Mentaya Project is committed to helping the local community and economy by providing new opportunities for people to create stable incomes and futures. They work closely to educate local famers on organic approach to farming.
